Achievements of Marie Tharp :-

Marie Tharp, in partnership with Bruce Hazen, made the first scientific map of the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. Marie Tharp’s work revealed the detailed topography and multidimensional geographic landscape of the ocean floor. This discovery of Marie Tharp is considered globally important today. In 1948, when Marie Tharp began working at the Lamont Geological Laboratory (Lamont–Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University), little was known about the composition of the seafloor globally. It was considered mostly flat and featureless. After this, after the discovery and map of Marie Tharp, information about geology and sea level was received globally.

Marie Tharp’s first map :-
Marie Tharp, an American geologist and oceanographic cartographer, produced the first map of the sea level in the North Atlantic in 1957. Two decades later, National Geographic published the first world map of the entire ocean floor, written by two geologists, titled “The World Ocean Floor”. In which Marie Tharp’s name came first. In 1995, Marie Tharp donated her entire map collection to the Library of Congress. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its Geography and Maps Division, the Library of Congress named him one of the most important cartographers of the 20th century. Marie Tharp died on August 23, 2006, at the age of 86, in Nyack (New York). Marie Tharp is best remembered today as an American geologist and oceanographic cartographer.
